Open access

The Open Access and Copyright Policy establishes the fundamental legal, ethical, and organizational framework for publishing materials in the "Bulletin of LNAM." This policy is formulated in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Copyright and Related Rights" and the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity." The Editorial Board adheres to the principles of openness, academic integrity, editorial transparency, and respect for intellectual property rights. All participants in the editorial process—namely authors, reviewers, and the editorial staff—are obligated to act in compliance with the legislation of Ukraine and international ethical standards.

The "Bulletin of LNAM" operates on the basis of Open Access, which guarantees free, unrestricted access to the full texts of scientific articles, facilitating their dissemination and promotion.

Published texts are available for unrestricted access. Copying, distribution, and the use of fragments for scientific, educational, and research purposes are permitted provided that the original source is properly cited and the terms of reproduction are observed. Authors retain copyright to their texts, illustrations, tables, etc., but grant the editorial board the right to publish, distribute, archive, and index them in scientific databases. The author of an article submits a written Statement confirming the originality of the research and granting the editorial board consent for the publication, subsequent distribution, indexing, and archiving of the material.

By submitting materials for publication in the "Bulletin of LNAM," authors confirm that the article text is an original research work, has not been previously published, is not under consideration by another journal, and has been written in compliance with the principles of academic integrity, citation rules, and the policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. In the case of using images, diagrams, or tables, authors must provide information regarding the necessary permissions from the copyright holders.

The lawful use of visual material is a cornerstone of the editorial policy of the "Bulletin of LNAM." All visual materials submitted for publication are objects of copyright and are governed by general intellectual property regulations, whereby the exclusive right to reproduction, publication, and distribution belongs to the copyright holder (author, museum, gallery, archive, publisher, etc.). Consequently, the author must provide the editorial board with proof of the right to publish the images. Failure to comply with these requirements constitutes grounds for the rejection of the article or its retraction after publication.

Images for which the copyright has expired may be published without specific permission: this includes images of works created more than 70 years ago or historical photographs without a current copyright holder. Such images generally fall into the Public Domain, which encompasses intellectual property objects not covered by copyright or those for which the copyright term has expired. At the same time, it should be noted that reproduction rights may apply to such images; even if the work itself is in the public domain, its reproduction (photograph) may be an object of separate copyright. The author of the article is responsible for verifying the terms of use for such images. When using a public domain image, correct citation and attribution consistent with academic integrity standards are mandatory.

Each image must be accompanied by appropriate captions, specifically the name of the artist/creator, title, date, and location of the work, and the name of the photographer (if applicable). Photographs taken by the author of the article are published with an obligatory note of this fact in the illustration caption, including a clear identification of the photographer.

The editorial policy provides for continuous improvement and adherence to international standards and the legislation of Ukraine. It creates conditions for the free dissemination of knowledge and enhances the visibility of Ukrainian research, facilitating its inclusion in the global scholarly record and scientific discourse. This ensures a proper level of copyright protection and compliance with ethical norms in the use of scientific materials.
